California Sister Butterfly in flight and alight
(originally mistook this one for a Lorquin's Admiral)

Named for the coloration of its wings being similar to a nun's habit (Audobon Society).
Found this one near the trailhead at Proxy Falls.


Habitat: oak groves
Season: April to October
