Elk Wallow Falls is south of Mapleton.
GPS N43º 57.084', W123º 54.138', Elevation above sea level 360 ft.
Directions:
- From Eugene head west on Hwy 126. When nearing Mapleton there will
be a bridge. Before crossing the bridge there will be a road off to the left.
That will be Sweet Creek Road. If coming from Florence pass through
Mapleton and make a right turn to go over the bridge. Right turn after
the bridge onto Sweet Creek Road.
- Follow Sweet Creek Road for appr. 10.8 miles to the 2nd named trailhead for Sweet Creek
- Go down the trail to the creek and turn right to follow Sweet Creek downstream (northwards)
- Short distance past the landmark I call "Macaque Rock" start looking to the left and above Sweet Creek
- Elk Wallow Falls will appear behind the foliage on the other side of the creek falling into Sweet Creek
- If you weren't looking for it you would never see it - total trail distance less than 0.1 mile

"Macaque Rock": landmark boulder to the right has the visage of a monkey.
Caution: Snail Crossing
