This is an endangered species of butterfly that makes its home in the Willamette Valley.
Fender's Blue Butterflies - male (left) and female (scale is misleading - they're the same size)
These five pictures were taken at Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge west of Salem.
The Fender's Blue has also been seen at Fern Ridge Reservoir south of Eugene.
Center picture has a really good view of her eyes from the front.
